Responsibilities of Delegates 

for General Synod 2024

​

A General Synod Delegate for 2024-2027

  • Serves for three years starting at the General Synod (4-7 October 2024);

  • Joins with delegates from parishes around Australia and New Zealand at General Synod to make decisions that affect the whole church;

  • Reads the Book of Reports which will be provided ahead of the General Synod;

  • Has discussions with their local church leaders and members before the General Synod on key matters to be decided at the General Synod, including a proposal from the Way Forward project**;

  • Learns about the Way Forward project’s progress ** and is well prepared to engage in this critical conversation at the Convention;

  • Has and maintains at least Level 1 Safe Church Training and a Working with Children type check both when you are elected and at the commencement of Convention of General Synod in October 2024;

  • Attends pre-Convention training - a comprehensive training webinar for new delegates and refresher training for experienced delegates; and is

  • Prepared to vote electronically at General Synod via an app on a smart phone.
